If you’ve been thinking about adding solar panels to your home, this could be the year to do it. 2021 is shaping up to be a great year for solar power, with federal tax credits being extended, new government programs being implemented, and more rebates potentially becoming available to eligible homeowners. At Energy Service Partners (ESP), we want to help California homeowners find the right solar options, and by partnering with qualified solar sales reps, we can bring the power to the people.
Federal Tax Credits Extended
One of the biggest things to happen in solar energy so far this year is that the 26% federal tax credit has been extended to the end of 2022. When Congress passed their spending bill this past December, solar received a two-year extension (2021 and 2022) on the federal Investment Tax Credit (ITC). This ITC will decrease year-over-year until 2024, which means now is the time to act. As a sales rep, this can be a great pitch to give to homeowners, since they can receive a 26% dollar-for-dollar credit on their federal tax income for any solar project completed by December 31, 2022. The ITC was set to expire at the end of 2020, but the federal government has given solar a boost by extending the credit by two years!
New Government Initiatives
With any new presidential administration, there are going to be new initiatives and programs. With President Biden, there is likely to be an emphasis on solar and wind technologies to power homes, cars, and more across the country. Both residential and commercial properties could see new tax credits, rebates, and other incentives for adding solar panels, and ESP will be keeping an eye on any new developments regarding renewable energy and how people can save on adding solar to their homes and/or businesses.
As a sales rep, you’ll need to be up-to-date on new government programs as well, and we can make sure you have the information you need to take with you into the field. As you speak with potential customers, you can let them know that on top of getting clean, green energy for their home or business, they can also have the opportunity to save on their initial investment.
California State Rebates
For homeowners who live in California, there are further opportunities to save on solar power. Depending on where they live in The Golden State, a homeowner could enjoy financial and property tax incentives that can help them save each year by investing in a solar panel system.
